Hypnosis is an incredible therapy for irritable bowel syndrome. With some victims, the pain is absolutely excruciating. The cramping can cause them to curl up in a ball on their bedroom floor, their office, in a meeting, maybe even in an airliner, a hotel lobby or a restaurant. It can be so intense that the individual doesn’t care if other people see them or not.

Sufferers are often embarrassed when they need to leave a meeting, an appointment, church, a social function or even a date without wanting to explain their sudden departure when trying to find a rest room. Many are debilitated by having both constipation and dysentery within hours of each other. This makes it extremely difficult to schedule or attend meetings and keep appointments. The fear about when it may next strike makes one dread upcoming events. Some never plan an early morning flight as there is no way predicting for how their intestines and bowels will perform on a given day. Will it be debilitating cramps today or inconvenient dysentery?  In some it may trigger panic attacks or anxiety.

These are just some of the presenting symptoms of a disorder known as Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS.

Treating this malady with hypnosis has proven to be quite effective and has made it an attractive therapy for many sufferers. The therapy is enjoyable and relaxing without the downside side effects that are part and parcel of many medications. Hypnotherapy uses the healing power of one’s own subconscious mind. Think about it. If you cut your finger, what heals the cut?  Right – your own body. Your body also develops antibodies to fight many infections without any outside help or cues.

There is also a not insignificant serendipity with hypnotherapy. Quite often, migraine or stress headaches either diminish or disappear altogether!  Remember, stress does not make our life happy!

If you have sought treatment for IBS and have not experienced relief, please give me a call and come in for a complimentary consultation 404-277-1827.
